| ERS Railways introduction
Taking advantage of the liberalization and de-regulation of the European rail market, ERS Railways was established with an own fleet of locomotives and wagons. ERS Railways holds since 2001 a Dutch Railway license issued by IVW as well as an EU-License authorizing ERS Railways to access tracks in all EU-countries.
In October 2002 ERS Railways operated its first shuttle as a rail traction provider between Rotterdam and Germersheim in Germany. Since then the business of ERS Railways has expanded, we now operate around 100 weekly trains throughout Europe, with a strong focus from the Benelux and German maritime ports to selected destinations in Italy and Central Europe. Besides these regular trains, ERS Railways was the first rail operator running a shuttle train with 52 x 40ft containers without transshipment from Shenzhen (China) to Pardubice (Czech Republic). First train ran in June 2007 and 6 other intercontinental block trains have been performed in the mean time on this corridor.
Thanks to continuous surveillance made by our operational office in Rotterdam, ERS Railways is able to offer its customers a reliable and high-quality service.
In 2008 ERS Railways produced more than 1.85 billion ton kilometers only in Germany and Holland. The development will continue in 2009 and the following years as we together with our customers plan to expand our network with new destinations and products.
The locomotives used for the traffic is mainly operated and manned by own production staff, which assures a high flexibility.
Today ERS Railways has 100 European employees of which approximately one third are drivers. The organization is characterized having a broad know-how and short communication lines, ensuring our customers and partners the highest effectiveness in the shortest time.
