The high capacity utilisation of the seaports and the ship delays cause a cascade of distortions in the national combined transport supply chain. The waiting times caused by overcrowded terminals, for example, reduce their productivity and throughput times, with domino effects extending into rail production. This is exacerbated by the sharp rise in diesel fuel costs.
